Twenty-three-year-old Magnus from Aabenraa thrives on action—both in life and at work. As a freight forwarding trainee at Tricolore, he’s entrusted with significant responsibilities and the freedom to tackle complex logistics tasks, where no two days are the same. It’s precisely this variety and sense of responsibility that motivate Magnus and drive his development in an industry brimming with opportunities.

With a background as an HHX graduate from IBC in Aabenraa and experience as both a substitute teacher and entrepreneur, Magnus Sass Svensson has always been goal-oriented and willing to take responsibility. Today, he manages freight and actively contributes to Tricolore’s success—a journey that began entirely by chance.

– I initially planned to join the military, but one night out, I met a friend who suggested applying for a trainee position at Tricolore. I thought, ‘Why not?’ A few weeks later, I signed the contract, and I haven’t regretted it for a second,” says Magnus, now halfway through his education.

The transport industry quickly proved to be a perfect fit for Magnus, who thrives on staying active.

– I’ve always been driven by the need for action. I can’t just sit still—whether it’s in school, at work, or in life in general,” says Magnus, who also competes and trains children in boxing during his free time.

From Trainee to Responsible Freight Forwarder
At Tricolore, trainees are quickly given responsibility and the freedom to grow in their roles. From day one, Magnus felt a strong sense of trust from both management and colleagues.

– The first three months were about learning the basics—pallet measurements, what a loading meter is, and how the IT systems work. But soon, I was given more complex tasks, and today I handle operations almost independently. If you show that you can and want to, you’re given responsibility—and that’s great. It benefits everyone because that’s how we become good freight forwarders. It’s a win-win, explains Magnus.

This trust and freedom are among the things Magnus values most at Tricolore.

– Many of my fellow students in the freight forwarding program say they’re not allowed to make decisions themselves. Because I’ve proven my worth, I have almost complete autonomy at Tricolore, and that makes a huge difference, he says.

Never Alone

Despite his significant responsibilities, Magnus never feels left on his own.

– I always have my two mentors by my side, ready to provide guidance. The transport industry is expensive—mistakes can quickly cost a lot of money. It’s reassuring to know you’re never alone, he says.

Transport Industry: An Exciting Future

Magnus firmly believes that the transport industry offers vast opportunities for young people. He has already delivered presentations about the industry twice as part of Transport Week and actively works to inspire others to consider a career in freight forwarding.

– Everything we use has been transported at some point, and there’s always a demand for skilled freight forwarders—both in Denmark and abroad. It’s an industry full of opportunities for those willing to take responsibility and grow, says Magnus.

When Magnus completes his education this summer, he hopes to continue working at Tricolore.

– Tricolore is a fantastic place to grow, and I learn something new every day. I hope to stay here after my trainee period so I can keep learning from the best,” Magnus concludes.
