Padborg Transport Centre has entered into an industrious cooperation with Aabenraa Municipality on urban regeneration and maintenance. Recent initiatives include the planting of trees on Plantagevej, where small pillar oaks have taken root since April. In addition, kerbstones have been laid and grass has been sowed on the part of the road housing Ohl Logistics. Director of Ohl Logistics Gert Nicolaisen says:
‘Unfortunately lorries parked everywhere, including right outside our property. Therefore, Finn Sørensen from Padborg Transport Centre and I contacted Aabenraa Municipality to make them a proposal: If you plant grass and lay kerbstones on the road, we will be happy to maintain the area’.
And Aabenraa Municipality agreed.
Mikkel Bigum from Operations and Maintenance at Aabenraa Municipality says: ‘We are pleased to see the businesses in Padborg take the initiative and be willing to maintain the area. Considering the standard budget, projects like this one would not be realisable if the companies did not take ownership’.
Gert continues: ‘In addition to keeping the road free of parked lorries, naturally we also want the area to be presentable, both to our customers, our staff and ourselves. We take pride in ensuring that the area is attractive and accessible’.
Erik Krogh, Head of Logistics at Ohl Logistics says: ‘We also want to give the lorry drivers good working conditions. If we need to have some goods moved, we need to make room for them. Therefore, the long-term goal is to turn the customs area into a parking space with good conditions for lorry drivers who need to rest’.
The kerbstones on Plantagevej were ready at the end of August, just as the newly planted grass is expected to be visible shortly.
Together with Mikkel Bigum from Aabenraa Municipality, Gert Nicolaisen and Erik Krogh from Ohl Logistics have introduced kerbstones and new trees along Plantagevej in Padborg.
The small oaks were planted in April 2018.
The kerb prevents lorries from parking outside Ohl Logistics’ buildings. Instead the customs area will be turned into a parking space for lorries.
