Last Tuesday, European Energy cut the first sod of the company’s new PtX plant and inaugurated its 300-hectare solar park in Kassø right outside Aabenraa. The event shows that Aabenraa Municipality is truly one of the most ambitious municipalities in the country when it comes to sustainable energy.
Member of the European Parliament Morten Helveg Petersen, Mayor of Aabenraa Jan Riber Jakobsen and many others watched European Energy cut the first sod of the new PtX plant.
“Aabenraa Municipality is dedicated to sustainable energy, and I am proud that we are home to this huge new solar park. Add to this the construction of the world’s first e-methanol plant, which already has a group of international clients ready to receive the fuel that will be produced right here,” said Mayor of Aabenraa Jan Riber Jakobsen, who participated in last Tuesday’s event celebrating the Kassø PtX plant and solar park. In his speech, he focussed i.a. on the good working relationship between the Municipality and European Energy and the fact that Aabenraa Municipality is the one of the leading municipalities in the country when it comes to sustainable energy.
“The Kassø projects are large-scale, international projects that help cement Aabenraa Municipality as a municipality dedicated to the green transition; it shows that we put action behind words. We enter into dialogue with companies specialising in sustainable energy and make it a priority in local political strategies and district plans. We have the space, and a drive around the municipality will show you that projects do not stop at the drawing board,” Jan Riber Jakobsen said and added:
“I hope people will look at Aabenraa Municipality and see a place where ideas are realised. We want to be a municipality which through planning, flexible governance and professional pride helps make sure that projects are realised. This is evident i.a. from our development strategy, The Good Life, and our green business strategy.”
European Energy has enjoyed working with Aabenraa Municipality, and the company looks forward to supplying customers like LEGO Group, Novo Nordisk, Circle K and Maersk with e-methanol.
“We have enjoyed working together with Aabenraa Municipality – from the passing of the local district plans for the solar park and PtX plant to our flexible cooperation on all sorts of project-related questions. Now we look forward to producing sustainable energy right here in Kassø for international clients like LEGO Group, Novo Nordisk, Circle K and Maersk,” said Managing Director of European Energy Knud Erik Andersen.
