Padborg Transport Centre is known for providing 24-hour service 365 days a year.
One of the service companies located in the area is MAN Bus & Truck in Padborg. It is a service company which, in addition to selling new and used cars, also services the fleet of vehicles 24 hours a day 365 days a year. The company has a staff of 32, including 16 mechanics and six apprentices in the garage. Chief Operations Officer Martin Raun Johansen says:
‘MAN is a one-stop shop. No matter whether you are having tyre problems, a gear that needs replacing or a broken fridge in the lorry, we can fix it. Our staff includes specialists within all areas, both the digital and the mechanical’.
MAN Truck & Bus finds its customers in the large cluster of companies located at Padborg Transport Centre and among the large pool of lorries that pass through the area every day.
‘Our primary segment consists of local customers’, says Martin Raun Johansen. ’80 per cent are large fleet customers, typically export carriers. But we also have a series of irregular customers, mainly from Eastern Europe’.
‘We are busiest during weekends’, Martin Raun Johansen explains. ‘During the weekend the local carriers’ lorries return home, and a lot of external drivers use the mandatory hours of rest to come by for service, while they sleep in the customs area’.
All Types of Lorries at All Times of Day
MAN Truck & Bus also provides services to other car brands, offering them the same high degree of flexibility.
‘We have five mechanics on standby 24 hours a day all days a week. So we service all types of lorries at all times of day. If something needs repairing at 1.30 am – we are there’.
Martin Raun Johansen has no doubt that the company’s location in Padborg is an advantage on several front: ‘It is easy for us to find German employees, seeing as we are located very close to the German border. We have several German employees, and we really enjoy having them. They represent good, stable manpower’.
