This week, the Port of Aabenraa once again welcomed the container vessel Laura Mærsk, which is bunkering e-methanol.

It is the fourth time that Laura has bunkered e-methanol at the Port of Aabenraa.

As a result, experience is now starting to make a difference, says Peter Normark Sørensen, Senior Transition Fuel Manager at Mærsk.

“Laura is currently the only vessel in the Mærsk fleet that operates exclusively on green e-methanol. Over the past year, we have learned a great deal, and these experiences are pointing the way forward. Bunkering in Aabenraa is an important part of the value chain surrounding the new fuels,” says Peter Normark Sørensen.

The bunkering operation is a concrete example of how production, infrastructure, and international shipping are being linked together in the development of new maritime fuels.

The e-methanol is produced at European Energy’s facility in Kassø, and via AIT’s tank terminal at the Port of Aabenraa, Laura Mærsk bunkers approximately every 10 weeks.

Keep an eye on the Port of Aabenraa’s website to see when Laura Mærsk will return.
