It was a win-win situation when the Danish union, HK Privat Southern Jutland, visited the forwarding agency E3 in Padborg. The company can boast of employing the apprentice of the year and, at the same time, it been elected as internship employer of the year within forwarding and shipping.

The perfect match was found on Monday, 6 December, when Hendrik Purrucker was named apprentice of the year and, at the same time, his workplace E3 Spedition-Transport in Padborg won the award as internship employer of the year, both in the freight and shipping category.

– We have no doubt that this year’s apprentice is working for us. He is a ray of sunshine that contributes to the good chemistry/atmosphere in the department, and he is a workhorse who is able to keep several balls in the air at one time, the company writes in its recommendation.

E3 nominated both Hendrik and his apprentice colleague Elise Palmgren for apprentice of the year, each within their own area, and they on their part nominated E3 for the award of internship employer of the year.

– From day one, we have both felt welcome at E3. We have tasks on an equal footing with our colleagues, and there is always opportunities and time to get answers to our questions. As an apprentice, you are part of the team. After attending school and generally during our apprenticeship period, the focus is on whether our educational goals have been met, the satisfied apprentices write, among other things.

The double presentation was naturally celebrated with not one, but two giant cakes from HK Privat Southern Jutland. In addition, there was a diploma and – for the apprentice – a gift card for adventures. As something new this year, the company received a trophy which will function as a challenge trophy in the coming years.

The award as apprentice of the year 2021 is handed out by HK Privat Southern Jutland to an apprentice within each of the five subject areas of auditing, finance, administration, freight forwarding and dental assistant. It is a common characteristic that the winners are professionally skilled and, at the same time, do something positive for the work environment in the workplace, i.e., are good colleagues. The companies send a substantiated recommendation of their apprentices, after which a judging panel selects the winners. This year, 73 recommendations were received, which is a record.
